Broad-Spectrum UV Filter UV Protection

What it is & what it does

Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine (Tinosorb S/BEMT) is a highly photostable broad-spectrum UV filter.
WHAT IT IS: BEMT, also known as Bemotrizinol, is a broad-spectrum organic sunscreen filter that absorbs portions of both UVA and UVB radiation.

HOW IT WORKS / EVIDENCE: Its value is in contributing to a well-designed sunscreen system and helping absorb incoming ultraviolet energy. It is often selected for photostability, but it is not a finished SPF product by itself. The claimed SPF and UVA protection of a sunscreen must be established by testing the entire formula under the rules of the relevant market.

WHY THE FINISHED PRODUCT MATTERS: It belongs to the UV-protection category, not to the same mechanism as antioxidant extracts or brightening acids. No ingredient name alone establishes the measured clinical result of a complete formula.

Usage & cautions

Use sunscreen as labeled, reapply when indicated and do not calculate SPF from a single ingredient.
Information approach Consumer-friendly summaries are informed by established cosmetic ingredient references such as INCIDecoder and Paula’s Choice Ingredient Dictionary, while avoiding turning ingredient-level evidence into medical claims about the finished product.
