UVA Filter Active Ingredients

What it is & what it does

Avobenzone (Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane) is a UVA filter, especially valuable for long-wave UVA1 protection.
WHAT IT IS: Avobenzone is an organic UV filter especially relevant to UVA protection in sunscreen systems.

HOW IT WORKS / EVIDENCE: It absorbs UVA radiation and may require photostabilization depending on the formula and partner filters. The presence of avobenzone does not guarantee broad-spectrum protection, water resistance or a particular SPF on its own. These properties depend on the fully tested sunscreen.

WHY THE FINISHED PRODUCT MATTERS: It is a functional photoprotective active in the correct sunscreen formulation, not an anti-wrinkle treatment applied in isolation. No ingredient name alone establishes the measured clinical result of a complete formula.

Usage & cautions

Follow tested sunscreen labels and reapplication instructions; do not rely on one UV filter alone.
