What it is & what it does
Green tea extract is a polyphenol-rich botanical with real antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity, largely associated with catechins such as EGCG.
WHAT IT IS: Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract is a botanical ingredient derived from green tea leaves. Depending on extraction and processing, it can contain polyphenols including catechins such as EGCG.
HOW IT WORKS: Laboratory research and some human topical investigations suggest antioxidant and inflammation-related skin benefits for specific green-tea preparations, including responses to environmental and UV-associated oxidative stress. Extract quality, concentration and stability differ substantially between formulas, so it is not appropriate to promise the same effect for every ingredient list.
IN TRIPLE DOSE: Green Tea Extract contributes botanical antioxidant support within a formula that also includes retinoids and barrier-support ingredients. It does not provide a measured SPF or replace broad-spectrum sunscreen. The finished serum needs its own evidence for particular anti-aging claims.
