Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride

INCI Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride

Lightweight Emollient Hydration & Barrier

What it is & what it does

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is a lightweight emollient made from glycerin and medium-chain fatty acids.
WHAT IT IS: Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is a lightweight emollient made from glycerin and medium-chain fatty acids.

HOW IT WORKS: It fills microscopic gaps between surface skin cells, reducing roughness and making skin feel softer without the heaviness of richer oils. It also helps disperse oil-soluble ingredients.

WHY ITS ROLE MATTERS: Emollients soften dry or rough-feeling skin by improving the surface lipid phase and how the formula spreads. Some also form a light film that helps limit moisture loss; this is different from humectants that bind water. The benefit depends on the final mix of oils, waxes, lipids and water-based moisturizers.

A REALISTIC EXPECTATION: A useful emollient can make a routine more comfortable without being a direct acne, pigmentation or wrinkle-treatment active.

Usage & cautions

Assess individual skin sensitivity and stop if irritation or persistent congestion develops.
