What it is & what it does
Cellulose is a plant-derived polymer used for texture, film formation and suspension.
WHAT IT IS: Cellulose is a plant-derived structural polysaccharide used in cosmetics for texture, absorbency, film formation or physical exfoliation depending on its form.
WHAT IT DOES / EVIDENCE: Different cellulose grades behave differently: fine powders, fibers and derivatives are not interchangeable. Ordinary cellulose is not a biochemical anti-aging active; it can modify the product's viscosity, smoothness or surface feel. Its appearance in an ingredient list does not prove collagen stimulation or skin renewal.
IN THE FINISHED FORMULA: It belongs to formulation and texture support rather than a category of clinical skin-treatment actives. The actual function depends on raw-material identity and product design.
