What it is & what it does
Cera Alba is beeswax: a naturally derived wax used as an emollient and protective, structure-building ingredient.
WHAT IT IS: Cera Alba is beeswax: a naturally derived wax used as an emollient and protective, structure-building ingredient.
HOW IT WORKS: On skin it can soften roughness and form a light occlusive film that helps reduce water loss. In a cream it also gives body and improves glide, so its value is both skin comfort and formula structure.
WHY ITS ROLE MATTERS: Emollients soften dry or rough-feeling skin by improving the surface lipid phase and how the formula spreads. Some also form a light film that helps limit moisture loss; this is different from humectants that bind water. The benefit depends on the final mix of oils, waxes, lipids and water-based moisturizers.
A REALISTIC EXPECTATION: A useful emollient can make a routine more comfortable without being a direct acne, pigmentation or wrinkle-treatment active.
