What it is & what it does
Coenzyme Q10 (Ubiquinone) is a lipid-soluble antioxidant involved in cellular energy production and protection from oxidative stress.
WHAT IT IS: Coenzyme Q10, also known as ubiquinone, is a fat-soluble compound involved in cellular energy pathways and antioxidant defense.
WHAT THE SCIENCE SUPPORTS: Topical studies have investigated its ability to support the skin's antioxidant capacity and the visible appearance of photoaging. Evidence is encouraging for some formulations, but the ability of ubiquinone to perform in a cream depends on stability, delivery, concentration and the presence of other antioxidants.
IN A SKINCARE ROUTINE: It is a supportive antioxidant active, not a substitute for daytime UV filters or proof of reversing all cellular aging. Claims for one ingredient should not be presented as a proven result for every finished product.
