What it is & what it does
Glycine is a skin-identical amino acid found naturally in skin and in structural proteins such as collagen.
WHAT IT IS: Glycine is a small amino acid present in skin biology and used in cosmetics for conditioning and hydration-related functions.
WHAT THE SCIENCE SUPPORTS: Amino acids form part of the skin's natural moisturizing factor system, and glycine is also an amino-acid building block of proteins. However, applying a glycine-containing serum does not by itself demonstrate increased dermal collagen production. Its practical topical role is often supporting surface comfort and formulation.
IN A SKINCARE ROUTINE: It fits a gentle hydrating routine and should not be confused with injectable or medical collagen treatments. Claims for one ingredient should not be presented as a proven result for every finished product.
