Hydrolyzed Elastin

INCI Hydrolyzed Elastin

Protein / Film Former Formula Support

What it is & what it does

Hydrolyzed Elastin is broken-down elastin protein used mainly as a water-binding film former and skin conditioner.
WHAT IT IS: Hydrolyzed Elastin is broken-down elastin protein used mainly as a water-binding film former and skin conditioner.

HOW IT WORKS: It can improve surface hydration, smoothness and feel. It does not rebuild the skin’s own elastin fibers or “replace lost elastin”; its effect is mainly at the surface/formula level.

WHY ITS ROLE MATTERS: Protein-derived cosmetic ingredients can form a conditioning film and help improve the temporary feel of skin, hair or nails. Hydrolysis changes molecular size and thus can change how a protein ingredient behaves at the surface. It is not evidence that the protein rebuilds living tissue underneath.

A REALISTIC EXPECTATION: The most defensible claim is improved surface feel and conditioning, while deeper collagen or keratin repair requires different evidence.

Usage & cautions

Consider sensitivity to the protein source; stop if an allergic reaction occurs.
