What it is & what it does
Parfum is the fragrance system that gives the product its scent. It does not provide a skincare treatment benefit.
WHAT IT IS: Parfum or Fragrance indicates a fragrance mixture added to provide a scent to a cosmetic formula.
WHAT IT DOES / EVIDENCE: It is not a skin-treatment active, an exfoliant or an antioxidant therapy. The full aromatic mixture may not be individually disclosed in the INCI under fragrance labeling rules, though certain sensitizing fragrance substances have separate disclosure requirements in relevant markets. Scent can improve the sensory experience but is not essential to skin-barrier function.
IN THE FINISHED FORMULA: Its correct classification is fragrance/formula support, not an active-ingredient benefit. The actual function depends on raw-material identity and product design.
