PEG-150 Pentaerythrityl Tetrastearate

INCI PEG-150 Pentaerythrityl Tetrastearate

Viscosity Modifier / Thickener Formula Support

What it is & what it does

PEG-150 Pentaerythrityl Tetrastearate is a large-molecule aqueous viscosity-increasing agent used especially in surfactant systems.
WHAT IT IS: PEG-150 Pentaerythrityl Tetrastearate is a large-molecule aqueous viscosity-increasing agent used especially in surfactant systems.

HOW IT WORKS: It gives cleansers and shampoos controlled thickness, improves dispensing and can reduce watery run-off. CIR reports low skin penetration is expected because of its large molecular size.

WHY ITS ROLE MATTERS: Rheology modifiers, thickeners and film-forming polymers control how a cosmetic flows, spreads and stays mixed. A carefully chosen polymer can suspend particles, help prevent separation and make each application feel consistent, but that is primarily a physical formulation effect.

A REALISTIC EXPECTATION: A smoother finish or temporary film is not proof of biological wrinkle removal or deeper skin regeneration.

Usage & cautions

Use only as intended in a completed product and avoid inhaling fine powder raw materials.
Information approach Consumer-friendly summaries are informed by established cosmetic ingredient references such as INCIDecoder and Paula’s Choice Ingredient Dictionary, while avoiding turning ingredient-level evidence into medical claims about the finished product.
