What it is & what it does
Pomegranate Seed Oil is a bioactive emollient oil notable for punicic acid and other antioxidant lipids.
WHAT IT IS: Pomegranate Seed Oil is a lipid-rich emollient derived from the seeds of Punica granatum.
HOW IT WORKS / EVIDENCE: Its fatty-acid composition can include punicic acid, depending on processing. In a cosmetic formula it may help soften dry skin and improve the emollient lipid phase; laboratory observations of antioxidant activity do not prove it reverses wrinkles or restores dermal collagen.
IN SKINCARE: It has a different chemistry and function from pomegranate fruit extract and should not be treated as the same material. The identity of the extract and the completed formulation matter whenever a specific consumer result is claimed.
