What it is & what it does
White Willow Bark Extract is a botanical source of salicin and polyphenols with soothing and antioxidant potential.
WHAT IT IS: Willow Bark Extract comes from Salix alba bark and may include salicin and other plant polyphenols.
HOW IT WORKS / EVIDENCE: Salicin is a salicylate precursor, but willow bark extract is not equivalent to a tested dose of salicylic acid or a standardized BHA peel. Some laboratory findings concern antioxidant or soothing properties; exfoliating effects depend on the actual composition and formula, not the name willow bark.
IN SKINCARE: It can be a supporting botanical in clarifying skincare, but shouldn't promise the same pore-exfoliation performance as salicylic acid. The identity of the extract and the completed formulation matter whenever a specific consumer result is claimed.
