Steareth-21

INCI Steareth-21

Emulsifier Formula Support

What it is & what it does

Steareth-21 is a nonionic emulsifier used to create and stabilize oil-in-water creams.
WHAT IT IS: Steareth-21 is a nonionic emulsifier used to create and stabilize oil-in-water creams.

HOW IT WORKS: It helps keep the emulsion uniform and gives a smoother spread. It does not act as a biological skin active.

WHY ITS ROLE MATTERS: Emulsifiers and solubilizers have chemical features that help oil-based and water-based ingredients coexist. They can improve even dispersion, texture and stability, and can support consistent product performance during use. Their usefulness is primarily in the formulation rather than in direct collagen or pigmentation effects.

A REALISTIC EXPECTATION: A stable mixture is important because active ingredients and emollients should be delivered consistently, but the emulsifier does not become an anti-aging treatment itself.
