What it is & what it does
Grape Seed Oil is a lightweight emollient oil usually rich in linoleic acid and phenolic compounds.
WHAT IT IS: Grape Seed Oil is a plant emollient rich in fatty acids and minor antioxidants such as tocopherols depending on processing.
HOW IT WORKS / EVIDENCE: It helps soften skin and supports the oil phase of moisturizers. Laboratory studies of grape polyphenols are not equivalent to clinical evidence that applying grape seed oil can erase wrinkles, treat pigmentation or provide UV protection.
PRACTICAL ROLE: Its direct benefit is emollience and a more comfortable surface, not a retinoid-like treatment. The actual finished-product role and supporting evidence govern the claims that can be made.
