What you will learn

Understand cleansing, separate foam from performance, and decide when a separate makeup-removal step helps.

Core ideas before application

Why do some residues need a cleanser rather than water alone?

Some residues are oily and resist water alone. Cleansing agents help oily residue disperse in water and rinse away.

A low-foam cleanser removes residue comfortably. Is low foam itself a problem?

No; removal and tolerance matter more. Foam volume is not a sufficient performance test.

When can a separate makeup-removal step help?

When the cleanser leaves persistent makeup residue. The extra step has a specific purpose: comfortably removing residue the cleanser leaves behind.

What is a reason to reconsider a cleanser?

Recurring tightness or stinging afterward. Recurring discomfort is more relevant to tolerance than appearance or scent.
