What you will learn

Distinguish acne from marks and normal pores, and recognize the limits of home care.

Core ideas before application

What best describes a flat brown area after a spot settles?

A colour mark. Residual flat colour differs from an active lesion; unclear cases need assessment.

What do blackheads indicate?

A form of blocked pore. Harsh rubbing can irritate skin and will not remove normal pore openings.

Which deserves early medical attention?

Deep painful acne with emerging scars. Early treatment of severe acne can help limit ongoing damage.

Are stinging and a rash proof of a useful purge?

No; consider irritation rather than calling it success. Irritation is not a measure of acne-treatment effectiveness.
